In my 7th grade English course, we studied world-building through Neil Gaimon's Caroline. When we received our short story assignment, the first world that came to mind was the afterlife. I was interested in understanding how young children cope with life and death.

Growing up, I was the kid who wrote a lot. In this story, I wanted to challenge myself to compose a short but compelling environmental piece.
