Pandemic to Epidemic
Recently, I've become enthusiastic about health and healthcare. After reading a press release on the expansion of free COVID-19 testing in Michigan, I was interested in the initiative's impact. I incorporated interviews with health professionals and various sources to inform readers about staying healthy post-pandemic.
Hold the Phone
This article was an invaluable opportunity to work with staff, students and the school administration. I spent weeks communicating back and forth with the school administration to ensure that the article presented the cell phone procedures accurately. The experience taught me the value of collaboration, cooperation and compromise to solve problems.
Localizing National Politics
This article took the summer break to complete. I had to keep revising this article to soften the language while still accurately describing the provisions of the sexual assault package. I saw covering this topic as essential in showing what can be accomplished by putting aside ideological and political differences.
Playing the Game
The 2023 Midwest Open was one of the first Go events I covered. I remain inspired by the strong sense of community among Go players. Writing this article opened my eyes to obstacles I can expect. It took many people advocating for me to see my writing on the American Go E-Journal credited. At the time, I could not care less about receiving credit. The 2024 Midwest Open and other events I attend remain uncovered. I try to avoid sending my writing to the American Go E-Journal to resist my urge to send less professional emails. All of my articles from 2024 and onwards on the American Go E-Journal remain uncredited.
